Winners all round as Tikva raises 10k at inaugural poker night

On Monday 30th November 2015, Tikva had its inaugural Poker Night in the exclusive Matcham Theatre in The Hippodrome Casino.  Guests enjoyed a spread put on by Reuben’s of Baker Street and drinks were flowing.

With almost 100 players in attendance the room was packed. Prizes for the final 10 included Black Label whisky and ‘Pokerstars’ merchandise. The winners’ prize was a cool £1000 cash – which in the end the two remaining finalists decided to split the winnings.

Tikva raised over £10,000.00 on the night, which will be put towards continuing Tikva’s search and rescue of the most vulnerable Jewish children in the Ukraine and to maintain the needs of the children living in Tikva homes.

“What a fantastic evening for such a great cause,” said 1st prize winner James Clifford. “The atmosphere was buzzing and everyone came out feeling like they had made a difference.”

Tikva UK’s Executive Director Karen Bodenstein said “We were delighted with the success of our first poker night and look forward to it becoming an annual event. Funds raised will help our homes in Odessa make a vital difference to even more needy children.”
