Immanuel College Mission to Tikva

On the 18th of January 2018, a group of 27 students and teachers from Immanuel a college joined Tikva for a mission of a lifetime. The students ranged from ages 14-18, each having been an integral member of Immanuel’s Shevet Achim Charity initiative and helping to raise over £13,000 for Tikva UK this year.

The students had the opportunity to visit all of the elements that bring Tikva together; including all three homes where our children live, as well as the more difficult visit to the ‘homes’ where our children come from. With no running water and no sense of quality of life, it truly was a shock to see Jewish People living in these conditions.

The mission ended with a celebration bringing all the Tikva children and students together at the synagogue for a party. An emotional farewell but we left safe in the knowledge that these children are being well looked after by Tikva. I’m sure this won’t be the end, with memories made here with will last a lifetime, as well as the ability to recognise and appreciate all we have been given in life.
