#IAMTIKVA Annual Dinner 2016

On Monday 16th May, over 250 guests came together for Tikva’s fourth annual ‘I AM TIKVA’ fundraising dinner at the Millennium Hotel, Mayfair. In excess of £1.1 million was raised for the Children’s homes in Odessa, Ukraine, with the funds going towards continuing the search for at-risk Jewish Children in the region and bringing over 100 new children home to Tikva’s safe and loving environment.

Guests had the opportunity to hear from Raya Skakun who was brought to Tikva at the age of 6, having grown up in the homes and experiencing first hand, the difference and impact that Tikva has made on her life. ‘Tikva gave me that hope for a better life that I didn’t know I deserved. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today’.

Later in the evening, we were joined by television personality and comedy star David Walliams, who was in conversation with Tania Bryer, British Broadcaster and host of CNBC Meets. Walliams outlined that ‘it’s brilliant to see such an overwhelming amount of support for such a wonderful charity that do so much for these children’.

Speaking after the event – Tikva UK, Executive Director Karen Bodenstein commented: ‘I was delighted to see so many see so many new faces come together to join our loyal supporters for this year’s I AM TIKVA dinner. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed, enabling us to continue to provide a safe home for our children and rescue so many more.’
